come on man give us the 2.1 now stop testing our limits se ................why are u doing it to ur customers the service centers dont no anything bout it and u dont tell us anything ............................................................what do we have to do its been 7 months since the launch of x 10 but still no 2.1 u gota be ashamed bout it
well...i've seen that all x10 users (me as well) have loads of issues with their mobile.
The biggest problem with the software is that it lacks so basic apps/features. Some are listed below:
1. FM Radio (can't believe they missed that..!!!);
2. Flash (and not on/off light..!!!) for camera;
3. Outlook sync (calendar/contacts/tasks);
4. The volume for music and media is soooooooooo lowwwww...very disappointing for a SE phone..!!!
5. Why putting a calendar that has to be sync with google calendar??? There are so many people who do not use google calendar (instead using outlook calendar). It would have been better if a basic calendar was installed with options to sync.
Should the software update come with improvement or addition as requested above, the x10 would definitely be a much better phone.!!!
@snakepro:
1. FM Radio - yes, I was kind of surprised by that one. Sony, being Sony, I kind of thought that it would be present - maybe even with some clever gear to enable recording from the radio to SD card. That would have been great - that said, I'd done my research before I bought the phone, so I knew the Desire had it, but the X10 didn't.
2. Flash - hmm, yes, that too. Although there's some rumours that the post-2.1 update is going to "up the game" as far as the camera's concerned.
3. Outlook sync - two words - Moxier Mail. That got installed (v2175) on my X10 by someone either at Sony or my teleco. See http://www.moxier.com/blog/2009/jun/11/moxier-mail-13-its-way/ for some rough details, but it looks to do what you want. Only major downside - according to Moxier - is that you're totally dependent on Sony to update the suite for you - you can't just go to the Android MarketPlace and buy the latest copy.
4. Volume - ringer volume for me is fine - I use the X10 as an alarm clock to get me up for work in the morning. One thing I've noticed though - MP3 ringtones etc are very quiet, OGG format ones appear louder, (I'll be doing some better testing on this when I have the time);
5. Google calendar - it's the preferred option because it's a Google phone. I must admit to not using Gmail etc until I got the X10, and it's been okay so far. But then again, I'm a Linux user, so Outlook is a no-no for me anyway (except at work - where I'm forced to endure it). Again, if you want to use Outlook then I guess Moxier might be the way (if you've got Exchange). I've not looked at the online SonyEricsson sync much - maybe that would allow better sync to a desktop version of Outlook.
Nah, if we're slinging mud at the 'office' features, then I'd reserve my moon-based death-ray (thanks darkmax) for the idiot who let the Contacts app get approved - not only is it more basic than one on a $20 Nokia 'dumbphone', but the fact that a "sync" doesn't actually send content from the phone to Gmail contacts. But that's not Sony's fault, since that's a Google-supplied app.
You're quite right about some apps being google-supplied Bluebobx...(hope this is not the reason why the guys there are delaying the release of the android 2.2...!!!)
And..there's another point i missed in my previous msg...video formats divx, xvid, flv, 3gpp..hope the update would accomodate for mediascape to play these as well..
Otherwise...we cant complain that much..x10 is a great phone..i believe its one that has great charms in the market (got a friend who just flashed when he saw the phone)
Got a processor of 1ghz..!!! great graphics...timescape/mediascape/wifi...
Cheers

I would agree with almost all of what you said.
According to my sister-in-law, whose family business partially involves Android, 3.0 would still run in older phones with less than 512mb, and run properly. However, certain apps and features might cause it to breach the device's optimal processing level.
Great! The father lust after Rachel while the daughter idolizes Shakira..... you seem like a normal family! LOL. (Just joking, please don't take it to heart)
I would love for them to add an FM tuner as well. I believe it can be done with the existing hardware, but that'll be entirely up to them.
I hate Moxier Mail, been trying to tear it out of my device since day 3, without rooting the phone.
I believe you should try to edit your MP3 files, you can actually force it to play louder.... I am fine with my MP3 ringtone and alarm. Try using WavePad, I think it is a freeware.
Sigh, the ultra-impatient but good paying crowd. SE is losing traction. I sure hope someone slap the top man/woman.
Today I had the honour to play with an iPhone4..... I WANT MULTITOUCH!!!!! ![]()
for those missing a radio, i found a good APP that lets you listen to most FM and MW radio stations all over the world but via the internet. not great but better than nowt. the APPS great just search for stations from the menu, i found lots of my local radio stations here in the UK.
APPS called TuneIn Radio
Yes, it is nice to have but not a necessity.
Nice, but I can't have wifi everytime, so that defeats the purpose of the radio function.
