Sony z3 compact xperia back and home button not working

I am using z3 for almost a year and dint have any issues. Since last two updates i am facing two problems.

1. The drop down notification menu does not displays properly when slided over from top to bottom

2. Back and home button works once in a blue moon. Previously they were working great. Now i will have to try for more than 25 times to make that happen or restart the device.

Please let me know if this is a software issue caused by the latest software release or is there a way to bring back the old version of software. Eventually i need a working software and not this piece of ugly software quality.

Please respond when this issue will be resolved.

Completely same problem after last uprade

I'm using 3 free apps to keep from getting stuck without the soft keys. Button Savior (non root) for Back/Home/Recent, Taskbar switcher for a home button in the notification area and also Taskbar for a recent apps list. It's not ideal but it works even when using the camera.

Sony Australia told me to contact them to get it sent for repairs but I am travelling at the moment and it is just out of warranty. I wish I had just ignored the New Software prompts.

Yeah, that's just a temporarily-annoying solution.
As some users say - not responding touch-area will extend until you can't even enter you pin.
Just sad...

I have a Sony Z3 Compact, and I have the same problem, back and home buttons stopped responding, using gloves mode helps a little but not entirely, I install an app to do those actions.
I thought it was the OS, because if blocked the screen, the buttons below worked, how is that possible? It has to be the OS!
Update with FlashTool to 23.5.A.1.291 and nothing.
Downgrade to 23.1.A.1.28 (Android 5.0.2) and the same.
A few weeks later I stopped working a portion of the touch (I cant touch the 2nd conversation in Whathsapp, but the 1st and 3rd yes), a test screen I saw he was losing sensitivity.
My phone has 1 year and 8 months, perhaps completely in my case is that this gradual losing sensitivity. Now I'm downloading KitKat, I tell them how it goes.

Temporary solve of problem 
1 Install EasyTouch 
2 And if you can Nova Launcher Prime
This soft have parameters to use phone that have such problems you just need to setup them.

I also have the same problem since the last update. I have been using my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact for almost 10 months and face no problem until the last update. My phone dont have any hairline cracks and I havent dropped not even once. First the dropdown notification doesnt work on portrait mode but worked on landscape mode. Then, after a few weeks the home, back and opion button didnt work as well. I believe its not the touch screen that have issues, 'cause when in lock screen the voice assist button, lock icon and camera button where the home, back and opion button are located worked. I really hope someone could help us on this. A lot of z3 compact user have same issues. Without the back button the phone is basically useless, unless you're fine with restarting your phone everytime you finish using an app. Im still hoping for the update to fix this.

I installed KitKat and buttons did not work. I think gradually lose sensitivity. I do not think that is the OS because I buy the Z3C with a friend and has no such problems (he has the same version of firmaware), the difference is that I use it more.
The buttons on the lock screen works for us because it has more area, as more padding, tries to touch those buttons just below and will not serve, it is a small area.
I come to this post with these problems, but was increasing, it would be good if others passed the same validate it. You will stay waiting for an update that does not exist while the area of sensitivity increases as it happened to me, now I look for another phone.
