Im running the PCV-RS222 (xp2800+, fx5200, 512mb ram) and have had it for just over 6 months with no problems to date. However recently as I've been playing dvds the playback window will, for no reason, either:
A) go totally green while the sound playback continues and I;m forced to close PowerDVD (or windows media player, both A and B problems apply to both) and re-open,
B) The video will just pause while the audio continues and I have to stop and resume the movie.
The problem has been increasing in frequency and now i cannont risk even running internet explorer while playback is happening (I used to be able to run anything). I can safely say its not a virus as I have Norton antivirus 2004 fully up-to-date, and ive tried the obvious such as defrag, disk check, driver updates, firmware update, and the norton systemworks utilities with no luck. I really do NOT want to have to try a full system recovery unless I have no choice. As im out 0645-1800 at college, I rarely have the chance to call Sony up so any ideas would be great.
:smileyconfused:: Thanks, Nick :smileyconfused::
Sounds to me like a DirectX issue, have you installed a newer version.
By the way, like your avatar, I'm also a Moby fan.
Im running dx 9.0b, when it was installed though Im not sure. Is it possible to down-grade a version?
ps whos moby? i just like the pic
oh, another thing which may be related, when I play counter strike (Half life) using steam, or a couple of other games. after quitting, when i try to run java stuff on websites random screen shots from the most recent games will just appear in the screen, but I can carry on working as normal. They keep appearing every time i try to use any java stuff. may be linked.....
Not really sure what the problem is, sounds like DX9b came with the machine?
Moby is an artist - www.moby.com
Really not sure how to find out what it came with, cant see anything obvious in the notes. Thanks for ur help anyway
One more Q, and its probably a really REALLY stupid one but:
Would buying and fitting a new motherboard and case void the warranty? just I'd like to eventually upgrade it more than its capable of supporting atm. If it does ill leave it until towards the end of the cover
