A7IV Low light still photographs are worse then A7III
or in other words A7iii camera is much better at high iso, low light, jpg, photography especially when increasing the exposure in Lightroom, then the new A7iv
Only tested in Jpg not tested in Raw
Or do I have a bad camera?
Yes, if you compare a JPG of a 24Mpx with a JPG of a 33Mpx you probably find better render in lowest resolution.
For a more interesting comparison we have to compare RAWs files, and apply a postptoduction.
I had made some experiments in the past between a 24Mpx and a 42Mpx. The result is that:
- as is, the lowest resolution produce always the better noise management
- if you apply a strong noise reduction to higher resolution raw, and export at the same resolution of the lowest, the result is the same in all "native" iso range
- out of "native" iso range (Hi, Hi+) the quality is really poor, and lowest resolution win
As third "opinion", take a look to technical measurements of DXO:
As "print" output (so, all at the same resolution), 24-33-60Mpx have the same render.
As "screen" (so with pixel magnification at 100%) you notice the differences
