Dear All,
All those having this problem should back-up their data and expect a total failure of the touch screen. It is a chronic and progressive system failure that makes the phone unusable after some time.
If someone wants to monitor the progress of this failure, then run the diagnostic tool. One will notice large sections of insensitive areas of the touch screen.
I had this problem for a while and after sometime, I could not even login my password to start my phone. This is because a large swath of the screen is unresponsive.
Sony is a big SPORT!
Same problem, unfortunately. I wonder if this forms a good basis for a class action suit.
In the interim, I'm using the Swipe function in All in One Gestures (Play Store). Muscle memory associated with the soft keys makes swiping from just above the 3 positions of the soft keys a bit less painful. If the problem is progressive and degenerative, I wonder how long this would work.
Looking at the Samsung S7...
4 months for me since the first signs, and it's nearly unusable.
I lost all the keyboard, 1-1,5cm from the top, and now the center of the screen start to be unresponsive.
I can not enter my pin code properly because 5,7,8,9,0 doesn't tap now.
I'll receive my new screen this week and will make the replacement by myself,
hoping that the new one work more than 10 months.
i am facing the similar issue as of user 105 from last few days. although i was using it since 1.5years working good.
1. The drop down notification menu does not displays properly when slided over from top to bottom
2. Back and home button works once in a blue moon. Previously they were working great.
i did try PC companion repair method but didn't,
can you please advice what to do
The problem can be hairline crack (usually can not be seen). It is the digitizer that breaks, not display nor glass. If you have warranty, use it; if not, backup and change the digitizer (+display).
The causes: drops, thermal swelling of internal components, etc.
