So after a water spill on my device, the backlight of the phone has stopped working while every other function on the phone is working normally. I'm able to charge, start up the phone, and the touch screen is working as normal, but I'm not able to see anything on screen due to the backlight issue. I would like to transfer everything from the internal storage on the phone and onto my PC, photos etc in order to put onto a new phone, but my PC will not detect the phone at all and I'm unable to change any settings on the phone itself for obvious reasons. I get a USB device not recognized error message when I plug it in and I've also tried to manually install the latest driver for the phone, which fails and only gives me a yellow triangle with explamation mark beside the driver in device manager.
This is very frustrating so any help will be great.
Does the display show no picture at all? maybe you can reach the backup using the Google Drive option in settings, a single button tap, and it should backup everything.
Yeah I can basically see nothing at all. The only thing I can see is an extremely faint Sony logo when the phone starts up under particular light. After that I can see nothing.
Normally when I would plug the device into the PC, I would get the option on the phone screen to charge only, transfer files, or select mass storage mode. I wonder if anybody could tell me exactly where I would have to press on the screen to select the transfer files option after I connect the phone to usb? It's a long shot but worth asking.
Transfer files should be the second option it's usually in the middle of the second half of the screen.
Thanks. I've sent the phone to get the screen replaced, so if the new screen doesn't work, I'll give it a go.
