When i turned my phone on last night, i got the message saying my sound settings were turned off. When i took a look at the setting itself and pressed on it, it said it stopped working and i got the option to reset it (didn't work ofcourse). I have tried resetting the phone a couple of times, but i'm getting the same message over and over.
Anyone that got the same issue?
does this happen when you are in safe mode?
have you tried software repair using Xperia Companion
Hi @Jaspertjuhh, I'm sorry to hear this.
I agree with @nolramlb's suggestion about trying a software repair using Xperia Companion. Please let us know if it helped with this.
i did indeed try the software repair on my pc, changed nothing for me unfortunately.
@Jaspertjuhh In that case I'm afraid that this appears to be hardware related. I recommend that you contact your Local support team for assistance and more information on how to get your device examined by an authorised service center.
I have the same problem. A related but strange thing is that I get sound through Bluetooth but not through the speakers.
An odds thing is that sound files won't play at all and videos play the visual part but not the sound. In videos, the visual part will be rolling but the time doesn't change but stays at 0.00 as if it follows the sound that isn't. When I plug in the Bluetooth device the visual stops and waits for the sound to catch up and only starts again when the sound is at the same point as the visual.
It seems to me the phone isn't even trying to play the sound, why I don't think it is hardware related. I might be mistaken.
Has anyone heard of this problem after upgrading to Android 8? The problem appeared at the same time as battery problems and overheating.
Please help if there is a solution.

Hi, my phone is having exactly the same issues. Did you find a way to fix the problem?
Hi!
Nope, nothing yet! 😞
I have had some improvement in battery life lately. I am thinking about downgrading to Android 7.1 Nougat to see if that fixes the problem. I also have new problems. Problems I have got now:
1. Speakers do not work
2. Microphone test does not work (support app freezes when I try it)
3. I can not make phone calls. When I try, phone behaves strangely and it takes a very long time before there is a signal on the other phone.
4. There is some problem with the proximity sensor. I am thinking about opening it up to see if there is anything in there that looks bad
I do not know how or when I will fix this problem. Going back to before Android Oreo feels like the best thing to try.
Cordially,
Martin
