Phone screen turns red

Hello, my mom got a sony xperia XZ on Christmas and she's been experiencing a problem with it lately. The phone screen suddenly gets a deep red hue. She hasn't changed the screen settings or anything and it gets fixed with a reboot, but it's kind of annoying and worrysome so we'd like to know why it happens and if there's a fix that doesn't require restarting the phone every time.

This is definitely a software issue, more likely an app with permission to draw over other apps. As your bottom icons are not affected we can rule out any hardware issues. I'm not sure which app is causing this, but you can start by uninstalling apps you added recently. It might be a tedious procedure but the other choice is to backup the phone the do a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Follow the steps given in the blue link, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.
