Will there be any android 2.2 update for x8 in future

I am thinking of buying experia x8 and wanted to know if there will be any os update to android 2.2 or above in future if not i will think of buying some different brand mobile and also can anyone tell me if there any upcomming sony erricson phones with android 2.2 shortly. thanks in advance.

X8  is not Compatable of all Sim cards...It was getting restated  while   playing a Video when we place the  sim card of some subscribers...it was  showing the same problem for Old sim cards too

We haven't announced any updates past 2.1 at this point.

well even i bought a xperia x8 recently but before buying i did ask the person at the shop if this model will get an upgrade for android 2.1 or better 2.2 .. and he said yeah ... it will... so i hope i hear the same news from the Sony people very soon ... if u get any updates do let me know on my email plz  ... I was on chat with sony ericsson support and the person that I was chatting with told me that in the begining of 2011 there will be an update to 2.2

i hope it comes soon ... coz i m using y X8 since last 4 days... and i m having a lot of fun with it ... its nice and compact ... but i just feel bad when i see some apps which are supported by android 2.1(froyo)... but no probs... i will just wait

As Jeff said, nothing has yet been announced beyond Android 2.1.  You will definitely get 2.1, which is something to look forward to, but no one can tell you with any certainty whether 2.2 will be released for the X-8.

ooops... sorry i forgot that froyo was 2.2 ... well i am happy with any upgrade of android it'll always be better than what i have right now so 2.2 or even 2.1 ... i just hope i get it soon
