I have read several posts around the web of other people not being able to use there wifi at there university due to their Sony Ericsson phone not supporting TKIP encryption. Is this suppose to be a smart phone? I am very disappointed in the lack of updates to fix this problem. If I Phones work perfectly in a network with WPA-EPA and an encryption type of TKIP, then why cannot my "SMART" phone ( Xperia X10) ? Come on SONY!! You are better than this and that is why I bought this phone...please live up to your normal standards and release a software update so that we can use our phones like every one else. This is a MAJOR flaw in this phone! I hope somebody in sony reads this and if so thank you for your time in advance.

You could try this app
http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/apps/app/com.sharkmob.FullWifi/Full-Wifi
It may solve your problem, its free so no harm trying.
is it enough to use Full Wifi without modifying "wpa_supplicant.conf" file?
I have read elsewhere that WiFi Config Editor Pro works, too. There is a small charge for it, but well worth it for those stuck at uni and unable to connect to the wifi, if ag4751's suggested app doesn't work for everyone.
I had another problem (all downloads from market get stuck at download start),,,
again, is it neccessary to modify the wpa_supplicant.conf file manually? or these applications are enough?
