Why does wi-fi keep turning off when unused? Any solution?

Hi all,

     I have been having problems trying to keep the wi-fi ON for a continuous period of time. Every time i turn on the wifi, and leave the phone idle after using an app, the connection is automatically disconnected. I did change the advanced wifi settings sleep policy to Never, but still shows disconnected. I am sure that i am well in the range of my wireless router and that it is switched on at all times. This is very annoying cause i have to turn ON and OFF the wireless adapter on my phone to regain connection to use other apps.

1. Is this a known bug?

2. Is there a workaround for this?

3. Is anyone else facing this problem?

4. Any updates coming up regarding wifi in the 2.1 update?

I think so, perhaps a adroid 1.6 issue

2. Is there a workaround for this?

The advanced setting "Never" doesn't work. I checked this with my Router, if the display is going off, the device disconnects.

I have solved this issue with an app, see here for an older post from me:

(remove all 3.party wifi apps, install "wi-fi keep alive", use the widget with [policy: never and workaround 1 and 2], reboot)

But one Problem stayed: If I let the wifi on at the night (onlineradio with sleep timer) + powercable connected -> next morning, wifi doesn't work, but my mini shows that it is connected. :-S

Thanks V, i think this should help fix the problem, even i listen to ol radia overnight wit sleep timer, will play aorund wit some options an find out..

And hope SE/Google dev's fix it for the new upgrade..

It's a bug? I thought it was just a way to save battery whenever Wi-fi wasn't used. It turns back on when you get active again.

it's a bug, because why else should there a policy setting for never disconnect the phone?

and the reconnect doesn't work at all 😕
