Software Updates setting, ON or OFF to extend battery

To extend battery life should the "Software Updates" setting be turned on or off? Or, will it not affect the battery either way?

I don't know how regularly the phone checks for updates if you have the automatic seach for software enabled - the phone doesn't seem to say - but by enabling it, it will use the battery to some extent.  I doubt that it would check every 5 minutes or something, so my guess is that it wouldn'tmake a lot of difference as far as the battery is concerned.  That said, updates of any desciption don't happen very often, and it is easy enough to do a manual check now and again, so I just leave the box unticked.

There are certainly plenty of other things that will eat the battery very much more quickly, such as leaving wifi on and automatic updating of Facebook, email etc.
