Wireless connection with 802.11g card

Hello,

I have a PCG-FR105 Vaio notebook with windows-xp home, 13 months old.
I tried to make a wireless connection to an SMC wireless adsl-router using a 802.11g pcmcia card.

First I tried a SMC card, it gave me lots of blue screens whenever I tried to change the settings.
I changed it in the shop for an Asus card, that one I could install, but never made a stable connection with the router.
I formatted the c: drive and made a clean install of windows.
Didn't make any difference, no connection.
Then I got a Sitecom card to be sure it wasn't the brand, but also no connection.

Last resource was to trie a Sitecom router with the Sitecom card, but that didn't work either.

And all that time I could install my old ActionTec 802.11b card and was on the internet in no time.

So finally I returned the new cards, and use my old 11 Mb Actiontec card. But I still want to know why it doesn't work.
Should there be something special in the BIOS, this notebook isn't that old?

I hope someone can tell me if and what I did wrong?

Greetings, Marion
