Hi, I just got the Vaio Z1XMP and I love the design.
I thought i would let you know about a peculiar problem that occurs with Internet WiFi access when on battery power.
There is a power saving function in device manager that for some reason stops access to some(!) websites. For example, when on battery power, I cannot get www.ebay.com but can always get www.bbc.co.uk. When on a mains supply, I get all websites.
The setting can be changed in Device Manager to sort this out. Put power output on the wirless card to Max.
My Wireless router is a Draytek 2600G.
Has anoyone heard of a problem like this before?
Seems rather weird.
Regards
Paul

Will try your solution.
Sorry, I hadn't seen the original post because your laptop has the DVD burner and thus a different model number.
Hope it all works out.
Let me know.
I think it's a bug in Sony's software.

Works beautifully now - thanks. Though the fan seems to come on more.
Does seem stupid that a Centrino laptop can't run wireless on batteries eh?
Hi,
I had exactly the same problem with my PCG-Z1XMP which really made me mad. I followed your advice: The setting can be changed in Device Manager to sort this out. Put power output on the wirless card to Max.
And it solved the problem! Thanks a lot!
Glad to be of service!
It's a bit of a joke that such a fault exists though.
