Hi all.
I am looking for some parts for my old sony 3d laptop. I need a wi-fi card antenna /cable which goes from the card out to the top of the screen, and i also need the bluetooth part plus the cable. Any ideas where i could purchase these items?
Also, my 3d button on top of laptop doesn't light up anymore when switched on, a box appears saying, "cannot switch to 3D display". I have to launch the bluray player and activate the 3d from there, then the button lights up. This was never the case from day one. Button always lit up. I have no clue about software, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Hi berhenne52,
Welcome to the community.
I'll see if I can find this out for you. Maybe someone else in the community can help in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Thanks a lot Pascal, much appreciated. Cheers.
Hi Berhenne52 ,
I'm not sure if you'll be able to purchase and install these parts separetely.
To be in the safe side, try contacting a Sony service centre.
I filtered the available service centres: https://locator.sony/en_GB/servicecenters/?zoom=5&latitude=54.29088&longitude=-2.37305&categories=pe...

Hi,
Not a problem, Black Rose, i have just finished building a new Sony 3d laptop, from mostly new parts, and some old parts from my old machine, but now, i want to start rebuilding my old machine, so installing these parts, will be fine, it's trying to locate the parts, with cables is the problem! I have just found one of the cables for the wi-fi since, so just need the bluetooth part with cable. Not bad for someone who has never built a laptop before, but then again, i don't know how many times i have opened up my old machine, i.e. for changing thermal compound, etc... Lol. Thanks for your help. Cheers.
Hi Berhenne52,
Wow ! That sounds really impressive.
As far as I am aware, Sony doesn't sell internal components, but you may find them on the internet.
I think the engineers may also advise on where to find the parts.
Cheers,
Rose
Hi Black Rose,
It sounds hard, but it was easier than i expected, plus i cheated, i followed an old machine, lol, so that made my life so much easier. Fair play to Sony with this machine, i thought i would get stuck at some point during the build, with some soldered parts, but no parts i purchased for the machine, had to be soldered down, any soldered bits were already on the motherboard when you purchase it, so i was delighted with that. I had been looking for the build plans for this machine 12 months ago, with no luck, so had to bite the bullet, and start the build without it. It could have been a disaster, but all worked out nicely. Only thing left to do, is sort out the screen bezel, which i'm finding tricky, and don't want to break the hinges.
It's getting very difficult now after 8 years, to find parts for this machine, then again, i should have upgraded already, but couldn't part with this beautiful 3d machine. Lol.
Yes, you are right, Sony doesn't sell the parts, and i have tracked down a few parts online since, for my next 3d build, but still need one or two more parts, and then i'm good to go again.
Thanks a lot for your help. Cheers.
P.S. I need to clone, my old ssd, onto my new samsung ssd, so i can use the old ssd in my next build, and keep the new ssd for the machine i just built, but i have no clue about software. Any advice or videos you could link me to in baby steps, so i could transfer one ssd to another? Cheers.
Hi Marino,
Is this software Aomei, fully safe to use? Firstly, i have an old ssd from the 3d machine i just stripped, and i am using that in my new 3d build. I want to transfer that data from that disc, to my new samsung ssd, and use that instead. Is this Aomei easy to use? I don't have the proper cable/lead that connects to the ssd, but i have a caddy which i can use, only problem, is my laptop is not detecting the new ssd. Any suggestions on what i can do? I really am clueless when it comes to software. Thanks again for all your help. Cheers.
I had cloned an HDD to an SSD, the HDD was the original one from an old VAIO VPC-EE. The new one was connect to the VAIO with a Caddy and a USB cable.
The software is easy to use, just choice the origin that want to clone, and then the USB Disk.
