I just got one, great desktop. Sooo sexy and great space saver. Cant believe the difference its made. I have one question though, which i may post in other rooms:

can the remote that comes with it be reprogrammed to start other applications instead of the sony Sonic Stage software etc? I have had a play with sonic stage but frankly, i much prefer media player at the moment. I have also heard that if i decide to load songs onto a player, sonic stage wont let me unless i have all the copyrighting etc etc. It does look a bit clunky.

Id like ot reprogram the remote to start media player, otherwise its a bit redundant. Any ideas anyone??

You can import mp3 files into SonicStage playlists - make sure that you change the import settings so that it doesn't carry out any file format conversion.

Yes I have this model and I love it, saves so much space I can be online in my living room without the drawbacks of using a laptop. I also love the screen resolution, fantastic!

I do have a problem with the wireless mouse though (PCVA-MS2). I don't seem to be able to assign the double click function to the click on the scroll wheel. My finger is getting very sore from all the double-clicking I have to do. Can anyone tell me if there's an updated/alternative driver or any other solution to this?

I tried to log onto the Viao-link e-support portal but it won't accept my e-mail address on their database even though I registered with club-viao the day I bought it 6 weeks ago.

I can't log-in to the Vaio Support Site, too. Strange, I filled in the same email address I provided in the registration process. Can anyone assist us?

I bought my V1/G yesterday and I love it. The space it saves is incredible and the screen image is excellent. I already have a Vaio Z1 notebook and thats the absolute best notebook - fab!

The only problem I had with the V1 was when initially going online - that damned sasser worm infected my machine before the antiviral updates could download from Symantec, and it was a bugger to get rid of - couldn't get to the removal tool at the Microsoft site cos the machine kept closing down on me, LOL. Finally went online with the notebook and copied the tool and Microsoft patch and that took care of it.

Oh and I love the keyboard design with its slinky cover. And that *cute* little rodent..

But the question still remains - can you re program the remote?!!!

Lots of good advice and help etc but no one has actually answered my question! I may be forced to post the same question elsewhere at this rate. (I know its frowned upon but im getting no where it seems with an answer to my original question.)
