Hi,
I have a Sony Vaio VPCCW1S1E (red) with a Pioneer DV-RW TD09 drive.
Recently the ribbon cable on the underside of the drive keeps catching in the drawer and is becoming mangled. I have to carefully thread it back in with the drawer to stop it being squished.
So far the drive is functioning correctly but the ribbon needs replaced as it will not return to its former unkinked shape. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to buy a replacement ribbon for this drive and what the technical specs are for it? Also, are there any guides/advice on how to remove the DVD drive from the Vaio VPCCW1S1E - on some machines it appears only one screw needs removed, but I can't find anything on this exact model. I am thinking of replacing the drive like-for-like if I can't find a ribbon. I have no idea if the ribbon cable is a generic part that's easily sourced or if something more specialised is required.
**Additional: The current cable is type Youngshin-c awm 5443 105c 30v vw-1 but I can't find any for sale. Is there an equivalent?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Kind Regards, Dianne
