Thanks for the info from my previous question.. i have xp pro now working sweetly on the machine in question. What i would like to know now is which 802. x standard is the wireless nic ( a,b or g )

If you look on the Black label on the computer (right wrist area), you should see that the machine is 802.11b

(Thats what it says on my Z1rSP)
