PC card

Hi,

I'm relatively new to laptops (i have a vgn fs285H).
I don't know much about the pc card slot, can anyone tell me what type it is? Is it cardbus compatible?

I want to buy a tv card, and am looking at this one

Will it work with my laptop?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Tom

That looks pretty cool Tom

I think it'll work as long as your VAIO has a 32 bit PCMCIA slot, but a lot of VAIOs have that now and support both types

I have a NetGear WG511T CardBus WireLess Card, which is also 32bit and I just tried it in my 315M and it works fine.

hope that helps

Hi Tom,

I have been using exactly the TV-card you want to buy with the VGN-A117S, which is older than your notebook, and with the TX1XP, which does not even fullfill the requirements stated for this card. So I see no reason why it should not work with your machine.
One thing I could not manage so far is using the full screen size mode without getting a distorted image. As the FS285H has a widescreen display too, it could be interesting for both of us to get any advice or confirmation referring to this.

Greetings,
S.
