Overclocking

Hi there everyone.

I am trying to get a bit mor mph out of my laptop. I have just upgraded the CPU to give me some more speed.

I was looking at the BIOS to see if i could overclock the computer but the power settings are locked out. I guess that sony has done this.

Is there any way of unlocking the bios or any one found overclocking software that works well for CPU and Graphics card.

My laptop is a PCG-GR214EP. Intel Celeron 1.25 GHz and ATI graphics.

Also My laptop only has a CD/DVD drive which is removable, any one know if i can get a CD-R/DVD-R+R for that drive bay.

I have been able to remove a CDRW from a HP laptop and get it to connect to the computer but the sony faceplate will not fit on to the drive, so it looks shite.

Sony & other desktop replacement laptop manufacturers DO need to look into this I think.

But remember, the enthusiast will always go for the more readily upgradeable desktop PC.

But even as we speak, laptops are becoming more and more upgradeable by the end user.

So go on Sony... bring out the VAIO games machine that we all want

Indeed.
I do think more and more mobile gaming machines will make the markets, and with wireless hotspots people will be able to play Unreal anywhere they want to.

Thanks for all the feedback.

But so far no one has answered any of my questions. Can you change the BIOS power settings? Also can you get a CDRW or a DVDRW for this laptop. Also any one know of overclocking software?

I have a home built desktop that i use for my high end computing, currently waiting for ATi's new graphics cards which will be my next investment.

The reason that i ask about overclocing my laptop is just out of curiosity.

I am waiting to find a laptop that can cope with Farcry and Cryteck sandbox editor

You can't change the BIOS.
As for the CD / DVD drive, sure you can change it.

Not sure about those 2 games, but my GRX616MP handles UT2004 very nicely.
