Installed memory GRT816S

Why does Sony ship laptops with 256mb X 2 , thereby filling both
available DDR slots and making the upgrade to the maximum of 1gb so
expensive ?.
Is iI I wonder because both dimm slots have to be propagated?
That would be the only justification.

Sony then compound the expense by implying that only Sony memory is
compatable and charging £199 for each 512mb per dim.
A grand total of £398(not inclusive of postage) to add 512mb of ram.

Thank God for Crucial which cost about £153 (post incl.) for 512mb X 2

Had my gripe now I will shut-up

ps Bought 512mb of Crucial memory cost £78.34 Laptop and me going
very well on 768 mb ram

Joe,

Shopping around really, saw a nice Toshiba Satelite with widescreen.
I wish the Ferrari was in store so I could see and hear it

Joe, your right - but they did exchange mine after hassling them a little and trying to make them understand my situation.

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS - You are reallly prepared to buy the competition?

I am really disappointed about this!

Trust me - looking at what is to come.....

...you will regret buying a "B"-brand.

Simply backing you up big man, I know Kee-Lo to be a turncoat and an out-and-out scoundrel

He is also, it seems, something of a Lothario :anguished:

I don't mind Intel machines at all.
Just that AMD have come up with some excellant alternatives in terms of price/performance.
Look at the AMD Athlon XP range and also the Athlon64 & Athlon64 FX (both fairly new but they are excellant CPUs)

And there's cost as well...
Imagine cheaper, as good processors in VAIOs, yet still the high quality we all come to love from Sony
