my laptop heats up drasticly with or without ultimate use and no air holes are covered
It could be that the vents are clogged with dust, but the model and age of your notebook will help members to advise you further.
my vaio VGN-A115Z and i have had for just over a year although it has been a problem for a long time now. i dont see much if at all any dust in the vents however i have attemped to change VAIO POWER MANAGMENT which controls performance and fans and things but that doesnt help an awful lot
It may prove that judicious use of compressed air applied to the cooling vents will solve your heat problem, but first download MobileMeter and report back on the CPU temperature.
what would be a sensible tempreture would you say?
The processor in your model (Intel Pentium M Processor 725) has a max temperature of 100 deg C but I would expect to see temperatures in the 50’s rising to the low 60’s during intense CPU activity
what would be a sensible tempreture would you say?
after leaving my laptop cool down while it is off for a while, it displays as 54 and 41 but when i was playing a game it turned to 83 and 50. and about that compressed air solution - is it long or short term, how many times will i have to do it and where can i get a can of compressed air
i have also de tuned my proccessor to 600mhz (from vaio power managment to get the heat levels down
please keep in mind that i dont want to be running the system at slow speeds - otherwise there would never be a point in buying a 1.6ghz comp
