having so many dam pronblems with this laptop
even more since the warranties ran out grr!
the fan SEEMS to have stopped working...
i dont know... it may just have gone extremely quiet.. but i doubt it..
ok.. erm.. does this mean my laptop is vunreble to explosion? or.. just.. dieing?
last night i just heard a *conk* noise.. then the fan noise stopped...
so.. what should i do.. im pretty scared to be honest..
ive seen a cpu overheat and its not pretty.
so.. how do i check if the fan is actualy still running?
thanks
Try mobilemeter, from http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/
This will show you if the tempretures go up, if it goes > 70 turn off.
If you can, hoover the vents, but make sure the hoover doesn't make contact with the vent, we don't want to cause any short circuiting. (keep it around 20CM away)
This happened to my A217M, it was really quiet.... too quiet 😉 this happens when some large piece of collective dust jams it a bit.
It was just a matter of fidgeting around with the fan through the vent with a sliver of paper (rotating the fan a bit), then hoovering it a bit, then a bit pressurised air, then just turned it on and pooft! the offending dust came billowing out. Been fine ever since.
If you hear the fan running very loudly quite often, its a good idea to give it a clean before it ends up jamming or anything...
Hope that helps
Dave
