Clean the dust inside my VAIO

Hi

Is there a safe method of cleaning the dust collecting inside the air-vents and around the fans? I heard (from another forum) that this vaio user opened his laptop up and saw a significant amount of dust collecting by the fan and so after he cleaned it the fan ran much more smoothly and there was less noise.

Apart from opening it up, you could try a can of compressed air to dislodge any dust build up.

What about cleaning the screen? Any tips on the best stuf to use, its a black onyx one so would hate to scratch the surface!

Buy a nice lint free microfibre cloth and just wipe it dry. If you have finger prints I'd still wipe it dry, if they're stubborn then first go and scold the person that put the prints there and then just use vapour from your breath to clean it. I have in the past used non-alcohol wipes on my onyx but stopped now just to be cautious.

If you don't want to buy an expensive lint free cloth then you have options:

(a) Go steal one from a store or from anyone you know that has it

(b) Go get one of those cloths you clean your spectacles with - get it free from opticians usually.

Disclaimer: I do not encourage or condone any actions that involve breaking the law, the above comments are just my very bad sense of humour.

Also - what's the best way of cleaning your keyboard/surfaces? I tried a damp cloth but I don't think it's effective. Are there an safe chemical solutions that would do it?
