The laptop mentioned in the subject is running Windows 11 Home 64. I'm attempting to execute the "Cast to Device" command through the Windows File Manager while the laptop is connected through WiFi. I receive an error that makes no sense and leaving me with no real solution. Here is a screenshot of the error.
Now for the kicker. To make the "Cast to Device" work all I had to do was connect my laptop through the ethernet. I can't image what the difference could make. What device is doing the blocking? And what or where is the media controller? I went through the TV settings, and it all appeared fine unless I overlooked something.
And when I cast from my Windows 10 Home 64 Dell laptop through the WiFi, the cast works.
The media controller is the Lenovo, or at least a service running on it.
It doesn’t seem that the TV is blocking, as this works with the Dell; and the message only says ‘might’.
My guess is that this is a permissions thing, getting the casting started on the Lenovo. My first suggestion would be to Run As Administrator, and see if that lets it go out over the WiFi; and if it does investigate the permissions of the files and folders involved in the casting.
Yes. See the settings in image. It all looks good there.
And from the Lenovo laptop, when I cast a movie to my Samsung Smart TV through WiFi, no problems.
And I agree, there must be something about the Lenovo WiFi adaptor and the associated drivers causing this issue.
I see another method requesting a PIN. What would be the default PIN for these TVs. The previous owner never told me what is it.
