KDL40ex503 turns itself off every 5 minutes

My kdl40ex503 turns itself off then back on. The picture goes blank, 5 seconds later the sound goes off and a red light comes on, 1 second later the set comes back on, the sound comes on and the picture re-boots through the 'sony' screen as normal. This happens every 5 minutes (almost exactly). We've tried resetting the sleep timer and done a factory reset. When the set was off for a few days (unplugged as we were on holiday) it was fine when we turned it on again, lasted 3 hours no problem. The next time it was turned on the fault was back.

Any sage advice?

It sounds like you have a hardware fault. You will need to contact an authorised Sony Repair Centre.

Thanks for the reply, I've already e.mailed this to them and waiting reply. It will not accept a firmware update either which I have asked them about. I like to get feedback before I venture into unlimited cost repair land!
