Hi
Over the past few weeks I've noticed a dark streak going down the middle of the screen of my 40" KDL-40V3000. This seems to be more noticable when watching football.
The TV is 2 1/2 years old (6 months out of warranty and shock - it starts to play up!)
I've scanned the net and it seems I'm not alone with this issue. Another chap has the same issue with his Sony TV and posted a picture on the following forum....
http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd-tvs/1310747-my-tv-has-dark-streaks-please-help.html
This hasn't really been answered on this site so I was wondering if anyone on here has experienced this or can maybe diagnose from seeing the image?
I'm unsure what to do from here. Although the warranty has run out, this should not happen to a 2 1/2 yr old TV that cost nearly £1000 when released. Is it cost effective to fix? should I just replace it?? or is there a slim chance Sony will help?
Any advice would be a great help.
We swapped our sony bravia 32 inch for a sony bravia 40 inch a year ago with our daughter who wanted a smaller tv.The 32 inch is aprox 6 years old and has been excellent, the 40 inch is aprox 4 years old and until one year ago was fine.It has developed a large shadow shaped like a tree.Other lines and shadow's have started to appear recently. Our Daughter has contacted Sony and given them the serial and model numbers but Sony say these number's are not on there hitlist i.e model's with panel problem's!I think we need to send Sony a strong message!
I am buying a Panasonic because of this problem!.Apparently Samsung supplied Sony with the panel's and LG supplied Panasonic with panel's.Some Samsung's have the same problem's as Sony's,this is no coincidense!
I've got the same problem. On a dark background I can see a ghost/ big black smudge on the screen. And a faint line vertically down the screen. Has anyone had ANY results contacting Sony regarding this? ( I have a sony Bravia ) Great to other than that...for people who have this is it just going to bet better? Or anything I can do to clear it?
Strange because Sony is one of my favourite brands, and normally they are very good quality.
It might help if you could post a photo of the smudges and a model number of the TV. However, if its a hardware fault, which it probably is, you might want to consider contacting an authorised Sony repair centre. See HERE
Cheers
I have 4 or 5 dark steaks which run to to bottom which are very annoying against a green background. Most sports are badly affected.
Hi @ColwynMunro
Hard to know without seeing a photo and also you never mentioned your model number of the TV - if its new and you are not happy, take it back to the retailer you purchased it from and request an exchange.
Cheers
