My Bravia TV (model KDL-32EX503) has stopped receiving Freeview BBC channels. All other channels are fine, and all channels including BBC are now (since lunchtime today) fine again on my Sony DVD recorder (HDX870), which receives the antenna signal and passes it on to the Bravia. I've tried plugging the antenna signal direct into the Bravia: no change. Signal strength is very low (3 - 5%) and quality 0% on all BBC channels, but fine (90 - 100%) on all commercial channels. This began about Wednesday or Thursday (17-18 July), after a couple of days of the BBC signal becoming weaker and breaking up. The fact that I can get the signal with no problem on my DVD recorder, as well as on a Humax TV in another room, shows that the signal strength is not really the problem here, but something to do with the TV.
I see from threads on www.avforums.com (e.g. this one) that earlier models of Sony Bravia have had a problem with BBC channels at the digital switchover, but the most recent thread was more than 3 years ago and mine is a much newer model than the ones listed as not being compatible with the 8K signal. Our switchover here (west Norfolk, signal probably from Sandy Heath?) happened earlier in the year and we've had no problem until last week.
It's happened at about the same time that the DVD recorder lost ALL Freeview channels, happily resolved at lunchtime today, so perhaps it's somehow related to that situation?
Any suggestions gratefully received!

Hi there

Fingers crossed
Hi there
Its not clear if you have tried re-tuning your TV back in. Can you try re-tuning the KDL-32EX503 and see what happens?
Cheers.
Thanks for your reply Quinnicus. Sorry I forgot to say: yes, I retuned early this afternoon after the HXD recorder fix was rolled out, hoping it might have solved this problem too. It hadn't, and I've just retuned again, still with no result.
On your TV, do you have any BBC channels in the 800 range? And do any of them work? Also, can you recieve any of the HD channels (ie. 101, 102 etc)
I have just had a look at Sandy Heath transmitter - no reported faults

Hi Quinnicus
I have BBC channels listed in the 800 range, but they're all equally dead (well, some say "poor signal quality" rather than "no signal", but there's no picture or sound in either case).
The HD channels 101 and 102 are also dead -- and interestingly so are the ITV and Channel 4 HD channels (103 and 104), though their standard resolution counterparts 3 and 4 are fine.
Many thanks for your continuing help.
The reason why channels 103 and 104 dont work, is because they are on the same multplex as 101 and 102 (of which the BBC own).
See : http://www.ukfree.tv/allchannelsmuxes.php
Now, I dont know why you are having troubles with the 2 BBC multiplexes. It could be weather releated, see http://www.a516digital.com/2013/07/weather-related-freeview-reception.html
The only suggestions that I can really make is,
1 - ensure that you have the latest firmware installed.
2 - Try performing a factory reset of the TV itself (to clear any unusual settings that may have stuck). If you have any custom picture settings etc, you may want to write it down, as they will be lost.
3 - If that still fails, you could try manually tuning in the stations. See : http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/manual_retuning
Anyway, I hope that helps.
Thanks very much Quinnicus. I've had a look at the manual carefully (both the PDF of the printed version and the searchable html version) and there's no mention of anything that could be described as a "factory reset" for this TV, as there is for the recorders. Do you have any ideas on what that might be for a Bravia model?
Thanks again.
