I wanted to listen to some music with my Sony wh-1000mx2 headphones, but when I tried to open the headphones app, every time it says "connecting" and after a couple of second the app closes, I have tried everything, un installing the app and installing it again, check for updates for the app, check for updates for my phone and restarting my phone, but it still didn't work, I also tried this on my other phone and everything worked fine on the other phone but it doesn't work on my main phone (my main phone is a oneplus 9 pro, and the other phone I used was a huawei p smart z)
Plz help
So I got my new WF-1000XM4's yesterday, to upgrade from XM3's. I put them straight on charge, then this morning, tried to install them on my phone, an Xperia 5 III. I uninstalled the XM3's and the Headphone Connect app and started from scratch. Whatever I did, I couldn't get the app to stay open. I even tried to re-install the XM3's but to no avail. I then Googled it and found I was not on my own! It looks very much like the latest version of the app (8.4.1, 15 Feb 22) has a problem, which I sincerely hope Sony are fixing with some urgency!
To fix the problem for now, I completely removed all traces of the app and the headphones, including unpairing them, and restarted the phone just for good measure. I then completely factory reset and initialised the XM4's (check Sony Product Support for how to do this for individual models).
I searched, on my phone, for 'Sony Headphone Connect, previous versions' and found a list of them on a site called Uptodown (the first one I came to, there are others). I downloaded V.8.3.0, Nov 21 and installed it. I was then able to fully install my shiny new XM4's, register them with Sony and even update the firmware for the 'phones.
It was worth the effort to get the full function of my new headphones and I will just resist all requests to update the app until I hear that Sony have sorted it out and proved that it works!
Oh! and one final thing, make sure you uncheck 'automatic software update' in the app so they can't sneak an update through when you're not looking!
*This is not an official workaround. It worked for me but if you don't have any luck I can't be held responsible, sorry!
Have fun!
Hi guys, i have been facing issues with the apps as well, connecting through Bluetooth itself works fine tho for me so i am just connecting it via Bluetooth for now till sony updates the app.
Any news about the headphones app?I bought the WF-1000XM4 and a xperia 1iii but i cant use the app.Every time I'm going to open the app crashed.I just cant use my headphones for now.
First thing to do is to reset bluetooth connections.
Also reinstall the app.
If it happens again goto the Support app on your phone.
Tap device overview and you will find app issues.
In case you find issues, tap on the 3 dots in the upper right corner.
The tap on Send Feedback.
As you can see on the screenshot, you can explain your problem to Sony Support.
The extra added bonus is that screenshot and logs are added to your message.
The software developers @Sony will be able to trace the cause of this mishap.
By uploading the logs your problem will be solved sooner and you help all fellow Xperia users.
Hi;
It was released a new update (8.4.2) for the app today, see if it solves your problem.
Hello guys, yes try updating to the latest version of the app, solved the issue for me.
App update version 8.4.2
After speaking to Customer Services and finding out that the app had been updated, I initialised everything and unpaired the 'phones. I then started from scratch, installed everything and it all appeared to go well until this morning...
I went out with the dog, as usual, and the headphones had been working for around 20 minutes when I started hearing numerous spurious inputs to the right hand 'phone. The music was stopping and starting, skipping from track to track and even turning off altogether. I got straight back to Customer Services and they've issued a repair request form and return details to send my XM4s back for repair/replacement.
The app was definitely at fault until the update yesterday but it would appear that that wasn't my only problem!
I would like that Sony at least put more of his headphones in the app.
I have the Sony XBA-300 and they aren’t detected by the app.
I have the Sony MUC-M2BT1 to use the headphones with BT and they aren’t detected.
For me, this app is garbage.
Sony, please fix this.
