problem with wifi

my xperia mini st15i is not detecting any device via wifi. The wifi works when i switch it on hotspot mode and it is detected by other devices also but when i simply switch on the wifi to access internet from any wireless server neither it detects the other network nor its network is detected by other. pls suggest whether its a harware problem.

suggest you to check you're router first or some other Wi-Fi network....

thanks for your response. i tried to connect via ad hoc using my laptop and just came to know that xperia does not support and detect ad hoc network. is it true?

Yup...adhoc is not supported by Xperias....:)
