Why will my DVP-SR170 player NOT play DVR-R discs?

Hi there

You have not given us much to go on here, so I have listed some suggestions:

1. Aliens are preventing the playback of DVD-R discs
2. Maybe even GCHQ
3. Faulty Discs?
4. Suggest reading pages 5 and 6 of the attached manual (in PDF)
