SVR HDT500 USELESS if I can't play HD recordings from external drive

Hi

I would like to be able to play HD recordings (backed-up to external harddrive) but have no evidence to show that it is possible when my SVR HDT500 dies (eventually).

The operating instructions suggest that I can only play them on the same machine. This is obviously pointless when the machine is dead.

[Operating instructions: page 31:-

The titles recorded on this recorder are compliant with the XFS file system and can be played on this recorder only.

I have been in touch with "support" twice. The first rep said it was possible the second said it wasn't guaranteed.

So, my question:-

Have you managed to play HD recordings on external harddrive through any device other than the original recorder?

Hi @Monty969 and welcome to the community,

I have checked this for you and found out that recordings can only be played on the original recorder due to copyright protection I'm afraid.
