Dear Community,
Could anyone tell me if the Home Menu SHOULD be displayed every time i change my tv's input to hdmi arc ??
Is there a logic behind this or is it a bug that should be fixed ? Does every owner experience the same thing or is it relying on TV's brand ?
I can most certainly confirm that this is a Sony Receiver bug and finger pointing at other TV manufacturers or the user enabling mandatory settings for eARC etc. are not to blame. Every single time the "Cable/Sat" input button is pressed it should go directly to that input and not the ridiculous menu, period, the end, end of discussion, on to the firmware update please.
Yesterday I set up a brand new 1080 and a brand new XBR-65x900H, both Sony Products. As with every AV installation of all time, I added a couple of other input sources and worked to get eARC to cooperate and give me audio back to the Receiver, as it was designed to do. After turning on all of the HDMI options, which you have to do to even get eARC to work, I finally had it all working. All of the posts that say "just turn off this or that HDMI Control" = rubbish.
On to automation. Universal remote with a super basic macro to switch from "SmartTV" (eArc) to the "Cable/Sat" input for the cable box brings up the Home Menu. I didn't press Home Menu, I didn't automate Home Menu, I recreated this with the manufacturer's remotes, same thing. So sorry, no blaming URC or any other universal remote. Cable/Sat should change directly to the input. Fix this please. Copy this to the engineers, quote me, call me, just get it done please. I had to automate in 2 enter commands with 2 seconds between them to get around this.
Holday Cheers,

I’m experiencing the same problem with the same set up. Both the TV (LG OLED) and the receiver (Sony STR 1080) turn on with the cable box (Verizon Fios). For the first year everything worked as expected. About three weeks ago the Home menu began showing up a few seconds after turn on. Following my usual troubleshooting sequence of rebooting each component at least once, verifying the settings on the cable box, receiver and TV were correct and insuring all the cables were well seated. My troubleshooting was completely unsuccessful..
I called the tech support staff where I purchased the equipment and found they were well aware of the problem. Their staff attempted to develop a work around but we’re not successful. They then documented the problem, passed the information to Sony and asked them to develop a solution. Sony has not responded with a solution nor even acknowledged they had received the information.
A search of the web revealed this problem was far more common than I had assumed and was the subject of several technology forums. I have difficulty understanding why Sony has not developed a firmware update to correct this minor but aggravating problem.
Then maybe at this point you will need to give them a call and raise this with them, see what they have to say? But honestly, it doesn't look promising as the STR-DN1080 has been unofficially discontinued, so I can hardly think they'll keep supporting it with updates, but who knows.
