Sony svr hdt 500 format unsupported

When trying to use my sony svr hdt500 it always comes up with unsupported video format. Tried several hdmi cables and 2 tvs, one sony, one philips. Used to work in the past. An image only shows up if i wiggle the hdmi cable into a certain position. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there

As you have tried other HDMI Cables - Have a look at the HDMI port at the back of the recorder and see if you have any bent pins?

Okay, thanks alot. I forgot to mention that it didnt matter which end of the cable i wiggled, whether it was the tv port or the box's end of the cable( for both televisions again).
