I hope Sony is aware of the harm this has caused. Apart from the inconvenience many have suffered, there are probably many, many more who are unaware of this support group. They will probably think their recorder is broken and take it to a "technician". This "technician", being aware of the problem will probably tell the customer their recorder is irreparable, convince them to buy a new one, and then easily fix the old one to sell it on. Sony, you should be ashamed.
We certainly have a better understanding of thier web presence. Thier twitter and facebook accounts are clearly only there for show - lights are on but nobody is at home.
