I purchased this soundbar around 8 months ago and it has worked flawlessly ever since. However as of today the subwoofer has no power whatsoever. There is no power light and I have tried multiple plug sockets. The soundbar still works fine. I have contacted Sony support but they have not got back to me- apparently a confirmation email was meant to appear but that is nowhere to be seen. Any help would be appreciated
Hi Ryan,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
Let me look into this for you. I'll update the thread whenever I've more information for you.
Best wishes,

Hi Ryan,
If the sub woofer won't switch on at all, even when used with a different wall outlet, I'd say the best option would be to take to the nearest service centre to have it checked and repaired.
You can use this link to find the nearest one to you: https://locator.sony/en_GB/servicecenters

It seems to be an issue that many have experienced particularly in US where currently a class action is being suggested.
I got nowhere with Sony as my unit is out of warranty albeit used sparingly.
I have the same problem with my subwoofer. In the US community theres a lot of people with this problem. Think Sony knops about this issues and can give us a real answer!
I am also facing the same issue now, no sound from the subwoofer,
Have you got yours working now? and is it really cheap to get it repair?
My subwoofer suddenly doens't have any power either. Everything seems fine in terms of connections. Anyone get a response as to how to fix this?
I have this same problem too, now. Soundbar is dreadful without the sub. Sony tell me it's impossible to buy replacement subs because they're 'paired'/synced with the soundbar and suggest that I get it repaired (which will probably cost £100+). I think not.
So, I'm now forced into the market for a new soundbar after less than two years ownership of the HT-CT290. I had my eye on the Sony HTXF9000 but it too appears to have this lousy subwoofer unit. Therefore, I have to assume it'll fail too.
Can someone from Sony tell me which models don't have this sub? I'm kinda brand-loyal as I love their TVs but this situation is making me think twice about ever buying Sony again.
My Sub failed after 18 months, Our of warranty, service charge to repair and service centre location were cost prohibitive. "Open the back, methinks, nothing to lose"... I looked at the larger (Power Supply Unit) card with a large Blue Rubycon 400v 120 microfarad KXW capacitor on it - that had leaked!. Desoldered the capacitor, noting which connection was negative, sourced a new one for a beastly $4, soldered it in place (Neg to Neg, + to +) Job Done!!!!. It really is an easy fix. Best of luck boys...
