How do I connect my Sony BDV-E370 to my network

Can anyone tell me how to connect my Sony BDV-E370 to my network in order to view photographs and movies.  I can not work out hoe to enter the URL path?

The internet is working fine to the Sony presets, also the box has found my storeage drive and can view some of the files, but I can not work out how to direct Sony BDV to a particular URL.

Has anyone managed this?

The device doesn't have open Internet access in the same way your PC does I'm afraid.

Many thanks for the reply, persumably then the programming to access the installed web sites is part of the set up, is there anyway to vary this or is it Sony software?

Interestingly I have a storeage drive on my network and the Sony has found that and manages to play some of the smaller files, movies and larger files appear to cause the Sony to hang with the load symbol displayed.

So the Sony will work with some kind of server however its donest appear to be published the server spec required?

Correct - access to the web is controlled via the device. Number of reasons why there is no web access at the moment.

• Many  websites are built around Flash, Java and other  technologies which  aren’t installed on CE Devices, thus its impossible  to guarantee the experience and some sites might not even load at all!
• Text  input  with a simple IR remote control can be a little bit frustrating  beyond  typing a few characters and shipping all TV's with full  keyboards and  mice would result in a significant increase in cost.
• Surfing the web from the sofa is a very different consumer experience to surfing on a mobile device.
• Traditional   browsers can be quite resource hungry and TV’s (from all   manufacturers!) simply don’t have the raw power of Playstation 3 for   example. Indeed if you look at how some of the browser services render on a Samsung TV for example, they can be very slow.

So   really at present, its quicker/simpler to access open web on a   Laptop/smart phone/tablet and whilst this will I'm sure change over   time, with technologies like Google TV in the US,  the present 2010 models don't offer this feature.

The device works very well as a DLNA receiver though, via software like Serviio. Loads of threads discussing this feature.

Not sure is your question has been missunderstood, or indeed, if I have missunderstood, but if all you want to do is view your photo's and movies stored on your PC, and not use the TV as an internet browser, then assuming the E370 is DLNA complient, then you can share you photos and movies from your PC by using something like Windows Media Player 11 (or 12 for Windows 7) In WMP, under Library, use "media sharing" to get it to see the E370 and "add to library" to select the directories on the PC that you want to share.
