BDP-s6500 DTS to DD5.1

Hi. I have a BDP-s6500 and it has the function to convert DTS to DD5.1. However despite selecting this option in the Audio menu and accepting the warning message the player does not subsequently convert the audio format.

im connecting using HDMI cable and wonder if this is known issue or if there are any workarounds that people are aware of? I purchased this player as a result of this feature and hoping I've not wasted my money on something that isn't working. Thanks in advance

Could it be that the audio source is a newer DTS format that can’t be converted to DD5.1 (such as DTS-HD)?

Unfortunately not as the conversion coding works on other players from Oppo and Samsung. Having done further 'googling' I believe it is a widespread issue affecting the majority of Sony players since 2015 I.e. The firmware.....
