Why did Sony call me?

I had a call from 'Harry' this evening, purporting to be from Sony, asking about my  television and wanting to confirm my address.  He finished the call after I'd confirmed his details were correct, so I didn't have time to ask him.  I'd previously asked him to be brief as I was in the middle of cooking.  I'm now curious as to why Sony are interested.

If they phone me I will pretend I am a representative of Reader's Digest

and inform them they have won a holiday but its only claimable after they pay me the £25 registration fee.

(I'm joking of course)

Being serious, its good to know of any dubious calls etc that the members here receive.
