18 year old cybershot camera DSC-P12
My 18 year old DSC-P12 Sony Cyber-shot camera. Want to start using it again after many years of storage (18). Seems to take photos ok but trying to download to my laptop noticed the red light in the battery/card compartment is on and won't go off unless card ejected then replaced, then everything is ok, any clues anyone?

Hi @Muffet1991,
well, according to the manual (see here, page 17) the lamp is lit when "recording or reading" an image. Maybe that's normal? If not, here's another idea:
- Maybe the pins in the camera's slot and/or on the Memory Stick itself got a bit corroded or dirty. Taking the card out and pushing it back in might improve contact at least for a while.
That's all I can think of presently.
Cheers

Thanks for that,, cd that came with the camera with the driver is not compatible with my lap top so it looks like I will just have to put up with the, not too difficult operation of ejecting and re-inserting the memory stick.
