Hey All,
First post here. Please be gentle. I may have missed this as a repeat topic.
I purchased the 55 inch XH90 around a month ago in advance of the PS5 release. I haven't used it all that much, but, in the last week, I've been watching Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney + on it. I must say, I have been less than impressed.
Iv run connectivity through Wifi and Lan cable, but each time the behavior has been the same with the inbuilt Android apps (which are up to date). Video is very, very slow reaching 4K/HDR quality, if it ever gets there, that is. Even when it does reach that quality level, it constantly jumps in and out of HDR, causing the picture to go from grainy, to clear, and back to grainy again. Again, this is happening constantly.
Thinking I may have a panel issue, I went ahead and instead watched the same content from my PS4 pro, on the same connection over WiFi. The picture is perfect. It reaches 4K/HDR quality almost immediately, and does not behave in the same manner as previously described. So, I think panel issues are riled out here and this is an issue at the Android level with regards to apps. Understandably, I've purchased a smart TV here, so I expect the smart apps to work on it. I should not need to use a PS4 pro just to watch netflix.
Furthermore, there have been crashing issues on this TV almost daily. I'm annoyed at myself for not testing it harder after I got it, but it was to be a TV specifically for the next gen of consoles. Had I not been so worried about potential burn in, I would have gone with the LG CX 55.
Had anyone else had all of these symptoms? I'm on the latest firmware. There's nothing extra really installed on this TV. I just don't understand how the Android side of it is functioning so poorly.
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried clearing the cached data (under Settings - Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data)?
I have a ticket open with Sony at the moment and their engineers are apparently investigating. Hopefully I'll get something back soon.
Can I ask if you updated your TV?
I have been actively avoiding updates until I hear they become more stable. I'm not experiencing these issues on my set but want to be aware of this if I do update on the future.
