Turn Off Bluetooth Discovery

KD-55XD9305. I am suffering from "somebody" close by trying to pair a Sony Xperia XL with my TV. I have asked my immediate neighbours but everybody denies having a Sony mobile. I could of course turn off Bluetooth but then my 3D glasses will not wotk! Is there any way to turn off discovery to hide my TV from random Bluetooth attacks? Thanks, Paul.

I had this same very issue about a year back now.  Fortuately bluetooth really only has an effective range of about 10 meters.  I live in a flat complex and as the TV is away from my other neighbours, the only explaination I had for me was the flat below me - both of our lounge rooms are in the same position and even though there is concrete for my floor (his ceiling), the walls are paper thin.  Maybe its the same for you?

After a couple of nights of this continually happening (someone trying to pair their phone with my TV), I let the phone pair to my TV - I was curious on what they were going to stream.....    To my disappointment - nothing

Anyway, I disabled bluetooth on the TV - upon enabling it again about a month later the issue was resolved.  Or they gave up more like it.  My suggestion is for you to do the same - only re-enabling bluetooth if/when you want to use the 3D Glasses you mentioned.  After all, its unlikely you use 3D all the time or even everyday?

It is not possible to block pairing requests to the Android tv, this means any foreign bluetooth can send repeated pairing requests to the tv making viewing impossible, it is possible to disable the tv bluetooth but this is not an acceptable solution as you are now unable to use your own bluetooth devices.

I would like an explanation from Sony how this design fault will be resolved .

Got a reply from Sony about this in case anyone was wondering as I've got new neighbors with kids who are doing this constantly.

The gist was that it isn't something you can do and they aren't going to add the option in the future.

Such a shortsighted decision as game steaming is now completely possible from a TV and all controllers are Bluetooth. Not having a Bluetooth discoverability option will likely be a deal breaker for most people because the only other option is to turn it off to avoid devices trying to connect.

Go to the Google Playstore and download the ‘Bluetooth Discovery Disabler’ app. It solved my issue with an annoying neighbour........

Amazing, that solves the problem instantly. Thanks so much for the suggestion. So odd Sony can't release an official version of this app if a developer can do it!

I'm not holding out a lot of hope for something official, but the app that was suggested solved the issue so I'm pleased with the result.
