Hi,
About a month ago I bought a Bravia KDL 43W805C, which I have to say I am very happy with, compared to my old non-digital CRT-tv.
My only problem is getting satellite channels that I used to have on the old television via a digital satellite box. I had the dish tuned to Astra 19.2E, so that I could pick up French and German tv.
I got the impression that the tv doesn't need a box to decode the signal and all you need to do is connect the dish straight to the tv and tune, which I did.
The tuning process identifies something like 200 services, which I assume to be channels, but once I come out of tuning mode, there are no channels to be found. I check the tuning of the dish with the old tv and that works perfectly with the old box.
So, in short, I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Is it ok to connect the dish straight to the tv?
If so, how do I get the tv to show the channels that I've picked up?
By the way, just out of interest, what's the difference between preferred satellite and general satellite?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
John
You only made one mistake - You bought a SONY TV....
You were not the only one...
If you have cancelled the tuning mid way the channels are not stored.
Try tuning a single transponder and see if it scans and stores any channels.
