So after the last 3 updates on my android 9 tv, when i run my vpn software a few seconds later I get the pop up saying Ethernet not connected. I thought it was vpn unlimited, so brought surf shark and after 1 hour with their tech support and many settings it has been deemed is the TV.
same as it seems this post.

I have tried ivev2 and other settings and is hit and miss on what makes it disconnected. I have 1 phone and 2 imacs linked to my router and my tv. When i run the vpn on any of them, they all work as they should. So the problem is on the last 3 firmware updates from sony.
I just updated last night some new firmware
i will check today when home from work. Can we do a report to sony some how?
Yes. This is a known problem, also see this bug report.
Unfortunately this seems to be an Android TV 9 wide problem, not limited to Sony only.
Hi gatwickjames, do you know that VPNs aren't guaranteed to work on Sony TVs and often it causes problems? Have you tried without the VPN? Do you get the same message? You can get to Sony using one of the methods here: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/Contact/Email?cat=televisions-projectors1
well for the last 2 years i have NEVER had a problem with the VPN i use.
It only seems after the google UI wsa put on a few weeks ago and also my tv firmware was updated the same time.
after that i was sent another firmware via sony as could not install via the usb. so now on my 3rd firmware update
both apps dont work right and was ok at lease 3 months ago
It seems like this could be one of those bug hunts that'll take some time since most people don't use VPNs, but it's reassuring to know it's not just your TV or just a specific kind or brand but is Android TV 9 in general.
Hopefully, we get an update for this soon though.

Did you manage to solve this issue? I’ve also tried to install a VPN on my mobile device but failed. That’s why I only use mobile data there. VPN works well only with my PC.
There are alternatives to VPNs too. You can try using these proxies for Facebook, for instance. These are great for repetitive tasks like data collection or ad verification. They also offer more IPs, and there’s less probability that you will get a banned one than with VPNs.
In other words, there are other options you can go for if your VPN fails you, especially if you have a PC and not a mobile device.
