Hello!
I have a 43XD8099 + optical to a 5.1 receiver.
All apps suffer lip-sync issues. Only KODI seem to have a handy way to deal with it, allowing to shift audio in **both** directions to correct for that.
Philips Android TVs have a similar setting in their andoid TV menu ("If you cannot set a delay on the Home Theatre System, you can set the TV to sync the sound. You can set an offset that compensates for the time necessary for the Home Theatre System to process the sound of the TV picture. You can set the value in steps of 5ms"): is there a way to properly deal with this on the Sony TV?
Thanks,
diodorus
Yes, I see the same problem - and Kodi is the only solution I have found, which clearly doesn't work with things like the built in Amazon Video app.
If you stand approx. 10 miles from the tv then the sound will take a little longer to reach you and be perfectly in sync...:smileyhappy:
Hi there
Unfortunately there are known issues in regards to lip-sync. See:

Same problem on KD-55XD8005 with latest Marshmallow firmware as of today (28th Feb 2017). Problem with optical out on this TV/FW combination is that the picture is AHEAD of sound sent via optical out.
Note that this is highly unusual scenario. Normally picture is behind sound, because of the TV's advanced picture processing (upscaling, motion compensation, etc.) latency. Audio systems can deal with such scenario and it's possible to set an audio delay in audio system to compensate for picture being behind sound. However it's obviously not possible to compensate for picture being AHEAD of sound in audio system. Audio system cannot play a sound before it receives it from TV. At minimum audio delay can be set to zero, but even with zero audio delay set in audio system the picture is still ahead of the sound. Not much, but it's noticable and disturbing at times.
This applies to built-in TV tuner source.
I also have the KD-55XD8005 which I've updated firmware via USB and I still have the video a fraction AHEAD of the audio using optical out.
Any fixes for this yet?
Thanks,
Nick
I've got the same problem on my 49XD8099, first with 6.0.1, and it's still there with 7.0. Honestly I have to say that I noticed it only because when using both the home theatre as amplifier via optical and the tv speakers there is a sort of echo. So turning the tv volume off I don't notice the issue (but that must be me. Probably being used since ever to watch "foreign" movies dubbed in Italian we are less sensitive to this).
I never had the issue with my previous Samsung 32", it was perfectly in sync. So much that I used the tv speakers to get a sort of 7.1 channels. I have been a bit surprised that there wasn't any way to adjust it.
Video is still ahead of audio for me. I found my sonos sonos playbase with surrounds speaks adds 30ms of delay but it's definately more than that. I wish they'd add a feature to the tv so you can add video or audio delay so ever set can be made perfect!
Hi
My soundbar: Sony HT-CT390
My television: Sony Bravia KD-55XD8599
I also still have a very very irritating lipsync issue with my soundbar.
It happens randomly. Sometimes I can watch for a couple of days without
any issue then suddenly, during a movie or watching television I'm
experiencing horrible lipsync issues.
Turning the soundbar off and on fixes the issue, but it ALWAYS comes back after a while.
Things I've tried already:
-Bought and tried 2 new high speed , ARC HDMI cables.
-Restarting the television.
-Resetting the soundbar(reset + power off)
-Using an optical cable
-Checking HDMI is set to CTRL , on TV and Soundbar
-Assuring the devices are synced in the Bravia menu of the TV.
(sending a sync signal to all the devices)
I've already contacted my store where I bought it and also I've contacted SONY support.
The store hasn't contacted me yet.
Sony support suggested to reset the soundbar and check if HDMI is set to CTRL and check the bravia sync menu and resetting the soundbar(All these things I had already done).
So they suggested to bring in the sound bar to a repair centre.
After checking all my devices to eliminate the culprit,
I can safely pinpoint my finger to the Sony soundbar.
I hooked up an simple audio cable from the AUX from the soundbar to the AUX(headphone) of the television.
Result: the sound is lagging extremely. No need to wait to happen randomly.
With a simple audio cable connected I have evidence that the soundbar lags.
I mean who would have known that this could be possible right?
Connecting the AUX cable was like my last resort in order to keep the soundbar.
So yeah, I tried everything. From trying every setting to contacting Sony.
This is where it ends I guess?
I'm not going to bring my soundbar to the repair centr, because as I mentioned
before, the lipsync issue happens randomly.
So I will lose my soundbar for a couple of weeks and then get it back , only
to hear that they can't reproduce the issue.
I have a couple of unanswered question for SONY:
-Seen as this soundbar out a while, can I pray for a firmware update for the soundbar or TV,
which elimates the lipsync issue?
-How can this happen? I bought 2 Sony products, thinking they will sync good together.
-Is this a major flaw in the product and did you release it anyway?
Below are a 'couple' of links to customer reviews who complain about this audio lag issue.
Are you guys investigating this or will you just ignore it?

The reason why I wrote this rant, is because I'm getting really tired and irritated of watching
random lipsync issue while watching television or a movie.
I mean I'm literally getting aggressive and mad.
Please let us know what's happening, when will you add this setting? It's really important!!
