I paid good money for a brand name known across the globe for quality electronics. A big purchase that should last more than a couple of years. I treated it with respect, didn't load it with apps.
Then one day the KD-49X8005C just sticks on the boot up sequence. I search the internet and it's full of Sony Bravia owners who are left with a hunk of junk. A bricked Tele. That no longer works. As it hasn't been developed properly, and owners are left out in the cold, angry.
I read the forums, the guides, how to do the factory reset, the three button ten second rule, leave it for 30 minutes, un-plug it and wait, plug back in.... do the Sony moon dance on the second Tuesday of every month at midnight. Then the USB flash install from the Sony funtime site. I'd like to bill Sony for the hours I've spent trying to fix something they don't care a less about.
If they did care (Sony). They'd be requesting that these TV's are sorted. At their cost, not the consumers.
So yeah. If you have the KD-49X8005C - and it's not working you are not alone. If you have one and it still works as it should - nice one!!! But I suggest the Sony moon dance on the second Tuesday of every month at midnight.... might help. It'll certainly be more help than calling Sony, to be told to take it to an official Sony service company.
Shame on Sony and their range of Failing Android Tv's that are essentially a temporary entertainment system (for some, not all - but certainly a large number of gullible muggles, for believing in the Sony Brand).
Hi there,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
I'd recommend getting in touch with the Sony support team here to discuss this further.
Best wishes,
Sean
Hi Sean,
thanks for the advice. I did.
They told me to take it to the nearest certified Sony Engineer (over 200 miles away). That outside the one year guarantee that sony provides, repairs are 'Chargeable'. (the guarantee is pathetic, as I'm protected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 anyway).
so.... do I send it away at great expense, to be told that the board needs repaired - with no explanation as to why it stopped working anyway. (along with many, many, many others with the same problem) - Sounds like a complete waste of everyone's time, and my money.
It lines the pockets of the engineers, and why four years on, do I want to double up on the cost of my television. I've read enough online about the faults that Android Bravia's seem to be subject to....
Dreadful customer care.
