My Sony Bravia KD-65XD9305 will yet again not power on. Despite having the known issue of a power board failure, being "fixed" last November.. when a new power board was fitted. So this obviously does not fix the issue.
Given the amout of messing around I had to do, telephone calls, chasing telephone calls, dismantling all my AV unit etc.. should I have to go through this again? only for it to break in another 6 months?
Has this happened to anyone else? or am I just unlucky?? 😞
I really want this broken tv swapping for another one that works... biggest wast of £2500 ever.

Hi, I can see you posted this July 2018 but wonder how you got on with your issue in the end? Did Sony replace/repair/offer an extended warranty? We have the same issue with our Bravia TV will not turn on/no power whatsoever. I bought it in October 2017, it's a different model to yours or the other one admitted to have an issue by Sony, this is a KD-55XE9005. I can't believe this has happened after owing for less than two years and so dissapointed where saved up for ages to buy this TV, all our data/settings etc might be lost if we need to do a factory re set. I have another Bravia flatscreen which has lasted with no issues for circa 16 years! I have been trying to contact them today but closed weekends, the online message service is not working and noticed that on weekdays they are closed by 6pm! Thanks
I already have UPS, unfortunately it does not help with this issue...
In the first year I had this issue twice, afterwards it went without issues for 3 years, but yesterday the same power issue happened again...

I bought this TV with the excitement of getting back into Sony-level picture quality. I had a serviceable Panasonic that lasted 12 years. I purchased this Sony in January 2019 expecting it to last about ten years. It completely failed late September 2023—after less than five years. The picture is amazing. I had mine hooked up to an Apple TV 4K as well as two Apple HomePods set up as a stereo pair. I am saying all of this to say that while it worked, it was absolutely incredible watching tv with this unit. This last weekend, however, the screen went black, the Sony logo would appear momentarily and then go back to black screen. I tried all sorts of power cycling to no avail. After scrambling for any info, I read from one purchaser that Sony Bravia televisions have defective power supplies. (I’ve also read that all Sony 4K televisions are XBR, but I’m not sure.) That must have happened here. I won’t take it for repair, because I don’t trust that for my $300 plus dollars, it’ll actually be fixed. I’d rather pay $800 for a new tv. However, I am concerned about a power supply reliability issue. I have no interest in Samsung and LG televisions. Finally, what a waste for this otherwise superb television to be tossed in a trash heap. This model is discontinued by Sony, so perhaps the newer version 4K 55 inch Sonys will have dealt with this issue. If not, Sony will have an increasingly problematic hit to their otherwise stellar brand.

Hi @ves1001 You have landed on the European community, all Sony TVs here start with KD or XR. Back in the day there was just one model that had a general power board problem, the XD93. It was so bad that they automatically extended the warranty for all XD93 owners. Unfortunately, after 7 years that has now finished.
Sony TVs are not what they were 😢
In the Trinitron days, Sony had the best picture going, but you paid for that, and were rewarded accordingly.
Nowadays, they are still concentrating on having the best picture going, but they are trying to keep prices in line with their competitors. So something has to give, and it’s the specification and quality of everything else behind that unbeatable screen.
I walk past the Sonys in John Lewis misty-eyed that the beauty is only skin-deep.
I wish Sony had the courage to spec the rest of the set to the standard of the screen, and charged accordingly.
Enough people happily paid that bit extra in the days of Trinitron; what makes Sony think we wouldn’t now?
Bought a 65 inch Bravia OLED TV from Curry’s . It lasted 6 weeks before it won’t switch on and just clicks every 30 seconds. TV is wall mounted and neither Curry’s or Sony will take responsibility for the issue . Current request is for me to deinstall and send to Sony. Neither company acknowledge the logistics of this request or that the product is 6 weeks old in use . I have asked both companies to consider my rights under the Sale of Goods Act but neither have responded
I believe this is a very common issue from the threads that I have read on line.
Hi @6weeks The XD93 was a rogue TV which suffered from power failures to such an extent that Sony extended the warranty to 6 years for all users. This was a one off for one model in 2016. As your TV is not a XD93 it has no relevance to this thread. As your set is only 6 weeks old, you should only be dealing with the Retailer. I would take ir back and demand your money back, and perhaps go for another make if you have lost confidence in Sony and Curry’s.
Yes, you would do much better starting your own thread, (which might have prompted you to say which model of TV set this is!).
But yes, Curry's need to take ownership of the problem, and the last I heard, the obligation is on Curry's to collect any TV that needs a two-man lift, and not have you having to take the set back to the store.
The waters are muddied slightly if you put the TV on the wall yourself, or used a third-party contractor other than Curry’s to install it, but only slightly muddied.
I suggest you have a chat with someone at Curry’s head office, who often display a much greater understanding of consumer law than the local stores, and will put the local store straight.
Failing that, Trading Standards are your friend.
