1. Movies from my library with freeze during playback and screen goes black. I then have to go back to the home screen and resume playing the movie again.
2. The picture randomly freezes for a few seconds while the audio continues, the picture then catches up again with the audio a few seconds later.
3. Some animated movies are constantly stuttering and are basically unwatchable.
4. If you fast forward or rewind a movie the picture will often freeze up for a few seconds when I resume play.
5. Movies with Dolby Vision available are not recognised, so instead of the 3 Dolby Vision picture options, only the regular picture options are available, like Standard / Cinema etc.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with this TV?
I have carried out endless troubleshooting to try and fix these issues.
If I watch movies from Amazon Prime, SKY NOW or Apple TV - all these apps work absolutely perfectly.
Yes my movies are available on YouTube, and YouTube is a bit better but even on YouTube sometimes movies crash.
YouTube can show easily all the network performance and bandwidth required by each movie. Let’s check that you don’t have a network problem
I have a 1Gbps fibre Internet and my TV connects to the router on the 5ghz signal.
I haven't tested with a wired connection but the apps i mentioned that work fine use WiFi without any issues
If also YouTube statistics for nerd display that you don’t have network issues the only option you have is rising a claim to google tv. These are google movies on google apps
Ok is this more a Google TV issue or a Sony firmware issue?
I guess if it was Sony issue other apps would have same issue?
IMHO it is more a Google issue, since it's their catalogue, on their apps and their operating system. It's up to them to verify if your specific issue is due to some specific issue with Sony OEM and/or the underlying Mediatek SOC/Sony video processing.
For sure they will ask if you have the latest version of apps and Sony Firmware (but I'm sure it is the first check you did)
PS ...and BTW you are paying Google for the service.....so they should guarantee that you can enjoy what you paid for
I don't pay a subscription service to google i just pay for content.
I also have another Sony smart tv the A90k which has the same version Google OS and streaming app, but different Sony firmware and this TV works perfectly for everything.
So could that suggest the issue might be Sony firmware as well.
I think Google will blame Sony, and Sony will blame Google
I have been contact with Google support. They said they are aware of this issue and their engineering team are working on a fix but with no eta.
