Hard Drive.

I recently bought a USB Western Digital Passport hard drive which my TV will record to. However randomly I go in and it gives this message "registered usb hdd could not be detected". To fix this, I restart the TV. The TV is a Sony Bravia kd49xd8305bu. Noteably the drive does work on occasions but can't be relied upon.

Any ideas?

well, everything related to USB is half broken. Drives registered for recording and those formatted as internal storage tend to go missing after a while. Regular external drives change their path sometimes so apps can't see them. And the worst of all, user can't write on USB drives since MM "upgrade" a year ago.
