Is the Google Operating system on a TV less problematic than Android ?
I have had lots of problems with having to Restart my Sony Android TV every day to keep it functioning ....
I mean that it wasn't connecting to the internet. It also took ages to load the TV so that I would have to wait up to ten minutes to access the Home Page or Youtube. Then when I would try that it kept saying my TV wasn't connected to the internet and it asked me input the Wifi Password .
So does anyone know if the Google operating system is better than the Android ?
Many thanks.
R-E-A-L-L-Y ???? Thats shocking. Have you had experience of both systems Lightfoot ?
Have I had experience of both systems, well I have had Sony TVs exclusively for the last 40 years 😀
I replaced my X83C (Android) with a X89J (Google) well over a year ago. Both TVs were/are extremely stable. Perhaps they decide to reboot themselves about 2 or 3 times a year (no difference). No other faults.
I replaced my XE93 (Android) with a A95K (Google) approaching a year ago. Both TVs were/are extremely stable. Perhaps they decide to reboot themselves about 2 or 3 times a year (no difference). No other faults.
Bear in mind that I don't "fiddle" with my TVs. Bulk standard picture settings and I update the software immediately on release. No need to add Apps. Gave up on connected soundbars (waste of money) with all the usual inputs, Sky Q, Blu-ray, Apple TV etc.
If your TV is problematic, then clearly there is something wrong with it, and you should contact Sony Support to get some help. Sony Support Consumer Electronics
If your experience was normal, there would be a meltdown on this community, given the number of Android TVs sold.
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I did report it to Sony, but they sent me back a very long list of things I should do before getting back to them again. I have a number of mental health issues making it impossible to do what they asked. But thanks for the reply. Yes I'm having to Restart the TV 3 times a day to get it to function alright .
thanks anyway. Maybe it's best I just get a regular smart tv.
Even though Lightfoot has already covered this issue, I just wanted to say I've had both Android and Google Bravias and have had no problems with either of them. They are both very similar.
Is there anybody close to you that could maybe help you go through the list of tasks that Support have given you?
Hi Jumpsuit, well the TV is not in the warranty anymore. The email I got sent from Sony was in 2020.
I bought the TV in 2015 but had problems every day sine then. I just thought everyone was having the same issues ...
I don't know if Sony would still help if I managed to get someone to help me, as it's 7 years old now.
Hi again
Do you know what model TV you have?
As a longshot it may be possible that a reset would help, but on the other hand if the TV was to need a repair then its possible that Sony may not be able to repair it and if they could it may cost you more than the TV is worth.
If you can let me know which one you have we may be able to find the instructions for you to perform a reset.
Hi there I have the KDL-43W756C . But I have Factory reset it several times since purchasing. Thanks anyway for trying to be of help.
Maybe I will get back in touch with Sony
Hiya
Thanks for letting us know you've already tried 👍
There's no harm in asking them for a quote to examine / potentially repair the TV.
Let us know how you get on
